Hire or buy tens machine??

Just wondering about whether to buy or rent a tens machine, for my first baby i hired one and found it great. To buy a boots own brand one is about 55 euro (i'm in ireland!) and to hire a mama tens is 35 euro, so wondering is it better to hire a more expensive one, is there a difference in how the more expensive ones work? The last time I think I hired one called Pulsar. i'm afraid if i buy the cheaper boots one it might not work as well TIA!!

Hire. Definitely.

I would have been gutted of I'd bought mine (didn't use it at all for 2nd labour as it was too short. Hadn't even got it in time for 1st labour - they kindly swapped the credit to hiring a hospital grade breast pump while DD1 was in NICU)

Lilian I used one in hospital but you might want to use it for labouring at home before you get to 4cm.

Is the Boot's own brand one a specific maternity one? They are different from the standard ones because they have a boost button which increases the intensity and alters the rhythm when you have a contraction. You definitely want to make sure you get a specific maternity one!!

You dont have to just use it for labour, they're good for back pain and sciatica I've found.

Depends how many more babies you think you might have! I hired on all 3 occasions. should have bought one then sold on ebay! Have you looked at eBay? 2nd hand might be cheaper than hiring and it's unlikely to have been used as much as a hired one.
