I know of quite a few people on here for whom the baby turned the day of labour! Have you looked at spinningbabies.com?

41+5
Labour started 41+6
Baby was born at 42 weeks

Yes, I've looked at spinning babies.

Fattycow - that sounds great and what I'd expect my LO to do. How did you get the Drs to agree to let you wait til then? My lot seem keen to start planning for other things before 41 weeks.

There's a recent thread in AIBU where a poster has asked this. 30 replies. Might be worth taking a look Smile

They probably just aren't expecting your baby to turn at this late stage.
For most pregnancies with baby head down drs are happy for you to go about 12 days overdue before they want to do an induction.
Mine was breech til about 38 weeks.
It's your baby though so it's your decision! I'm sure you can tell them you would like to wait a bit longer if that's what you would like. Everything can change at last minute. Good luck!

rose, the baby in question was me! My mum just flat out refused any intervention until she was at least 42 weeks. She had agreed to them getting me out at 42 weeks.

My DS turned just before I went into labour, 10 days overdue and he was 10lb3ozs!Shock

I spent a lot of time on the floor head down, bum up. Not the most flattering position and quite awkward but it seemed to work - well it did for all 3 of mine - or could have been coincidence.

Good luck

Ok thanks everyone - I am going to insist they give me longer and perhaps agree to c-section at 42 weeks.

Mine second baby turned at 38 weeks. I was told she probably wouldn't, but she was small. It seemed to take her a day or two to kick her way round - she just wouldn't stay still!

My friend was scheduled for a section because her baby was still breech at 39 weeks. She went into labour naturally a few days before the planned operation, was scanned and the baby had turned during labour. Friend was relieved to have the baby vaginally, but also because the section had been booked for Leap Day!!

DD3 turned in labour. It was amazing, you could actually see her turn round! She was back to back though, not breach, so that may be different. Took her hours, but as soon as she was done, out she popped!

That's very cute that it takes them hours. The other night I felt a great weight in my pelvis and thought she had turned then, but if she did she must have turned round again as she's pretty high up now.

I really do think all this proves the baby knows what he/she is doing.

DS1 was breech. I had a ELCS at 39+1 but he had definitely been trying to turn right up until then.

I have a heart shaped uterus and he was totally stuck. He made many attempts to turn and most nights, just as I was drifting off to sleep he would start some really forceful wriggling.

I tried everything to help him to turn, but it wasn't to be in the end.

You see I would think I might have that too, but have had DC1 who eventually turned head down & came out that way (after a long farrago).

My DS was breech the day before my ELCS (confirmed as I was admitted the night before) The morning of the CS he had turned! This was at 39+5.
Still went ahead with the CS, as it had been planned long before we knew he was breech.

Dd was breech, I didn't have much support or time so let them push me into a c section at 38 weeks. There's a good Facebook group, breech birth, very supportive and informative about all aspects of breech, including vb of breech babies. This baby (currently 39 weeks) was breech at 34 and I was offered a breech trial of Labour, as second babies often can turn in labour. I would have given it a go then gone for c section if any issues. Luckily he turned and I'm set for hb, if he turns up by the time I'm 42 weeks.

There's also lots of info on that fb page about natural or gentle c section, which can make a difference if you go the cs route.
good luck!

DS1 was fine until the day I went into labour, at which point for some reason he turned upside down and back to back.

Fortunately/unfortunately, my labour was 2 days long and so my MW had loads of time to help me coax him round (careful positioning) before it was time to push.

my DS2 was back to back and turning as I was delivering. quite painful but I wasn't even aware untill pushing! Smile
