i woke up 12.30 am yeasterday to go to the loo (as you do) and as i stood up i felt a pop then then a lot of water running down my legs(i am 36+3 days)i thought i was peeing myself and then realised that i had no control and thought it was my waters breaking. so go to bathroom after waking hubby to clean up and realise that everything is saturated!i then started getting contractions every 5 mins apart. anyway i rang the hosp and to cut a long story short had to go straight in as this will be my third caesarean and what i thought was my first beginnings of labour. any way they tested and it came up negative and then they decided to try telling me that i had wet myself..then they decided it was the hind waters (small amount of fluids that can collect- who they trying to kid i was saturated when it happened)the contractions were quite painful for a while then finally petered off and stopped. i felt a right twit and was sent home after 5 hours and told to rest. i never knew that there was such a thing as the hind waters. they freaked me out last week by saying that on no account was i to go into labour and to come straight in as i am having ny third caesar on 10 oct and they did not want my previous scars being aggravated. what is the likelyhood of going into labour early now the hind waters have broken, am still getting contrations but not regular and not so painful, talk about living on tenderhooks every ones expecting me to go in any minute :-)
would love to hear from anyone with similar experiences

Hi blakeygreen - no experience of this I'm afraid, but bumping the thread in the hope someone else can help. Good luck with your new baby.

as far as I know the hind waters are the waters that sit where the babies body is and the fore waters are the waters that sit in front of the head i.e. between the babies head and your cervix. If the fore waters break you would almost certainly be in labour. With the hind waters, the hole can actually 'heal' up again and you dont necessarily go into labour.

I havent had any experience of this so hopefully someone more helpful will be along soon.

Hiya,
With my dd (2nd child) my hind waters were slowly leaking all day, and due to the discolouration (sp?) of it, i thought it was the show!!
I did not have any contractions, and it was not saturated, in fact, i was only noticing at the toilet, and sorry if tmi, it was feeling like a dampness. At 10pm that day, my waters went, and I knew it was, it was a pop, a gush, and the bed was soaked, so went to hospital (told to go in!).
when I was checked, the m/w said it was still my hind waters, and needed to have my waters broken due to the discolouration.
Sorry its long, but just want to let you know you are not alone!

Hi, no experience of c-sections but with ds1 I woke in the night a day before my edd with exactly the same as you describe. I know I didn't wet myeself and that it was my waters going in a trickle. Got to the hospital, they tested and it was negative. Felt really silly and was sent home feeling very foolish.

Nothing else happened for another 2 weeks then I started properly with contractions and I was told then that it was likely to have been my hindwaters. I never knew there was such a thing either.

Good luck when it all finally does kick off though

my hindwaters went but the hosp didn't believe me (despite 2 sweeps by different mws)that it was only that. no contractions tho so they induced me 3 days later

oooh, that's intersting, this i think happened to me, day before my due date, had had a sweep and then a show the previous week..felt something 'go', then a leak, called labour ward, they said to keep an eye on it, no contractions, but leaked a bit, went to hopsital, they suggested i'd had an accident , sent me home, woke up in labour , woke up in labour ! so must have been hind waters!!!
