Just wondered how common it is? And how DCs react when they are older to having a shared birthday?

I narrowly avoided it. I was scheduled to begin induction on my birthday, so spent the morning having a lovely last child free breakfast out with DH before heading to the hospital later that day to have stuff shoved up my fanjo! I was hoping and praying that it would not kick start things too quickly and thankfully it didn't. Went home, tried to sleep and then contractions began the next morning. DD didn't fancy sharing a birthday with anyone. I was in labour all day the next day and it happened to be my midwife's birthday that day. It was like DD was clinging onto my insides - she did not want to come out and was born just after midnight, so she had her very own birthday, not shared with me or the midwife or in fact anyone we know at all. Secretly I'm pleased. I don't like sharing!

Nearly. DS was due 2 weeks before my birthday but was late so arrived 3 days before instead so our birthdays are very close! Not sure how he'll deal with it when he's older. So far we've only had his 1st birthday and I was the one feeling overshadowed (joke Grin)

I did. DD is only 2yo though so don't know how she'll feel about sharing her birthday. I suspect my birthday will take a back seat for a few years.

I was 13 days overdue and scheduled to be induced late in the afternoon, but by the time I got to the hospital I was already in labour. The midwives said to expect it to be the early hours of the morning (ie missing my birthday) but DS had other ideas and arrived just before 11pm. It was all a bit surreal - especially when they were considering using foreceps and a whole team of doctors interrupted their briefing from the MV to wish me many happy returns (think waiters in Frankie and Bennys gathering round to sing Happy Birthday) I was slightly past caring by that point!

I was due on 20th my birthday was 11th. As it was i had pre eclampsia and ws in hospital from 32 weeks. Everything went pear shaped weekend before my birthday and tge started inducibg him 6.30am on ny birthday. Spent the day in pain and the next day and he finally turned up tge night of 13th.
He is 18 next month. To makeit worse dd was nit due until october but she decided to come early on 18th. So we all have our birthdays in the same week.
My birthday does take a bit of a backseat as i am preparing for dcs.

I was born the day before my mum's birthday. In all honesty it is a total pain in the arse- we are each held to ransom by the other's birthday. Tho we have had a few nice joint celebrations over the years.

My DS was due the day before my sister's birthday. From the word go she made it clear that she wasn't happy to share her birthday. Lo and behold, my DS showed up two hours into her birthday. She's coming round to it! (She's 31 btw)

End of the day, baby comes when it comes!

My ds was born the day after my birthday, in one way it's lovely as dh will never forget but my birthday is now overlooked because ds is far to excited about his. The first thing I get to do on my birthday is make ds's birthday cake......actually would of prefered him to be born on my birthday, I am a twin so clearly have always shared my birthday!

Yes! My DD was born on my birthday - 10 days overdue and induced - Emergency C Section so did not get to choose which day! She is 12 now and always tells people she was the best present I ever had (on my behalf) Confused Smile I don't get a look in on my birthday which I am more than happy about as have had plenty and shan't be needing any more thank you kindly! We do feel quite special that we share a birthday as isn't especially common. However, I do end up writing my own birthdate when filling out forms on her behalf which has lead to some confusion! As i said above all 3 of us ended up in the same week and i put DS's birth year down for DD when we applied for the guides. I was really puzzled when they rang me up with a place for her when she was 9 Blush Thankfully havent put my year of birth yet.

I'm due on my birthday . If it happens I'm going to pretend it was born the day after...I reckon it won't see it's birth certificate till its a teenager anyway!

DS and I are 2 days apart. (3 years out of 4, 3 days apart in leap years).

I do find my birthday gets a bit ignored :-(

My boy was due on my birthday, when I found out I was really annoyed! It's my day, I'm not sharing it with anyone! I actually had him exactly a week earlier. Which is my little brothers birthday.

DS2 birthday is day before mine and I love it, he really was the best present I ever had. He is 17 now, we just have double celebrations and both days are special.
