When should I phone the hospital?

Woke up this morning feeling quite strange, started having period pains not long after and felt very heavy and aches all morning. Have been losing my plug all morning and have had 2 shows this afternoon. Pains still feel like period pains getting gradually worse but I don't feel the need for pain relief or anything...help me :(

You could ring just for advice, I imagine they'll tell you to stay at hone for now. ( you don't say how far along you are so assuming your full term?)

They were really good when I rung at 10pm they said call anytime and if I really wanted to go in I could. Ended up going in at 7am next morning at 2cm dilated. They would have sent me home again if my BP hadn't have been high but were really nice, and happy to reassure me that I was actually in labor.

If your not full term then I would definitely ring them now for advice.

Phone if your waters break, or when the contractions are regular, say every 10 minutes if it's your first baby. They'll tell you what to do. The early stage of period pains can last ages unfortunately, I had period pains/mild contractions for a couple of days before going into proper labour.

I would call them now for advice. I had 'period pain' for a couple of hours, then a dodgy tummy and a show, then called them. Hospital is 2 mins from my house so I asked if I could pop in just to see what was happening (expected to go home again) - I was 6cm already, so stayed!

With dd I felt regular period pains but I was managing them quite well but phoned just in case, they told me to take 2 paracetamol and call back in an hour.

Within 20 mins I had to call again as they were unbearable, went straight in and was 6cm, she was born an hour later

Ring them, they might be really busy and tell you to go to another hospital when it gets worse, this has happened to two people I know.
Also so they know what to expect later, they'll know you're at home in labour so will be in within x hours

Hello! I gave birth 3 weeks ago, i started to feel like this on the thursday, went in to real labour Friday night and gave birth Sunday morning, Every midwife told me something different on the phone, some say stay at home until you cant handle the pain alone anymore, some say come in if you are scared and want us to check you over and see if you are in real labour x

I'd have a big glass of wine & try to have a nap, honest! You're in the slow phase, but I think it's coming for sure.

I called for advice as I has feeling heavy down there and asked if I could go and get checked even though it didn't feel anything like my first labour. An hour later dd arrived luckily at the hospital.

I had my ds 3 weeks ago and my local hosp request you phone when you have 3 or phone contractions in 10 mins, each lasting more than a minute, for more than an hour.
If you are worried though or waters go then call them.
