Chicken keepers

eggs - how long do they keep for? (How can you tell if they are "off"?)

My sister in law gave me a dozen eggs a month ago, laid at home by her own chickens. I still have 6 left, will they be mouldy? Should I chuck them or can I still use them?

I've often wondered this - dh's grandparents are forever giving us eggs.

Something to do with how they float in water, hang on a sec...

They last at least 3 weeks. You can tell if they are ok by putting them in a bowl of water - if any part of the egg touches the bottom of the bowl it is fine, if it floats then it is bad.
