We are after a new carseat in the 1-3 group range but we dont have the best car in the world for fitting carseats and cant afford a new car as of yet lol. Right nw we have a 0-1 group carseat which will only fit in the front. I know its still ok to use till 4 tho. The car is a T reg nissan mircra 1999 year or around that year lol. Its a 3 door hatchback. The seat belts are short at the back which is why we cant get the one we have in the back but would like her to go in the back esp as the sunlight in the front is getting into her eyes. Not sure though if a group 1-3 could fit and im not having much look on the internet. Have looked at halfords which wasnt very promising but dont want to give up hope just yet.
DD is 19 mts old nw.
If anyone has been in the same situation can you help us thank u?

Jade

hi, have you thought about a rf car seat? they are safer than ff seats. www.rearfacing.co.uk they might fit easier due to the way the seat belt goes. i have a britax two way elite. it lasts to 25kgs and i have had it in small 3 door cars. have a look on www.incarsafetycentre.co.uk at the other seats. the other seat that fits small cars is the hi way apparently, although i'm not sure about the way the seatbelt is fitted on that one. let me know if you'd like any more info.

I am about to buy a Nissan Micra 2008 model. Which car seat have you seen or used that fits perfectly into the car model above?

Hi Jade,

I'm assuming that your Micra is the old shape one, which will buckle crunch on a lot of car seat options. As a previous commenter has stated, rear facing is safer - however due to the risk of buckle crunch I would strongly recommend visiting a store that will check seat fitment for you and give the in care safety centre a call to see what extended rear facing car seats are suitable for your vehicle.

If you choose to go with a forward facing car seat, the following will fit your car:

Group 0+1: Britax First Class, forward facing with seat belt fitted on route B.

Group 1:
Maxi Cosi Tobi
Maxi Cosi Rubi

Group 123:
Britax Evolva

The following seats will potentially fit and both are group 123:
Cybex Pallas
Kiddy Guadian Pro

NOTE: The Cybex Pallas and Kiddy seat are both impact shield seats and I would recommend trying one in a store to make sure you are happy with the way it works and fits.

As with all seats, it is very important to ensure they fit the car, and are fitted and used 100% correctly.

Is it the old, old (square) shape, or just the old shape?

We had an old shape one (sorry, can't remember the year) and the Besafe Izi combi isofix rear facing seat fitted behind the passenger seat, with just enough room for a tallish front passenger left, though the "spare" adult usually just sat behind the driver.

We put DD in through the boot, which got a few odd stares, but saved my back a lot of trouble.

First Class route B shows the Britax First Class in the old style square Nissan Micra's - if yours is like this you will have long seat belt buckle stalks. If you have the newer more bubble shaped Micra the buckles are lower down and not such a problem.
