Newborn seat to fit Toyota Celica 03 - help!

We have been to Babies R Us and have been told that there are no suitable newborn seats to fit a Toyota Celica 03. We can't be the first people to have a child and own this model of car - can anyone offer any advice on seats that will fit?

I checked the britax and maxi cosi fit finders and neither of them had newborn seats that would fit

Just because a car is not listed doesn't mean it won't fit. It might mean the manufacturer hasn't tested it. Go to a proper independent fitter not Halfords, Mothercare, or Babies R US who should be able to advise and try some seats out and they can look at things like seat belt length, buckle crunch etc. It may just be that car seat manufacturers haven't bothered with the Celica because it is not exactly your everyday family car.

The car was listed on both websites but both maxi cosi and britax said there were no newborn seats to fit that car.

Thanks for the response, where can I find an independent fitter and how do I know that they are reputable? I think the likes of halfords are so worried about liability they won't even try a seat in the car if its not on the compatibility list. At the moment only solution from Toyota is a car seat that would need to go in the front with airbags switched off - not ideal.

Yes of course there are seats to fit your car, you just need to go and play. I never took my seat out with the baby in so it was just left in the car and I took baby out of my 3 door, that worked really well.
If I'm honest I didn't check my seat 'fitted' on a website before buying one. I just looked and bought the one I liked.

I don't know if kiddy do newborn seats but I can't recommend the bigger seats they do enough. Not isofix and they do incredibly well on the safety tests.
