Britax Baby-safe Plus II SHR safety warning in Which magazine

Apparently the handle can fail - it doesn't specify exactly what the problem is. It was a Best Buy before.

Britax are aware of it, & there is now a modified version on sale, BUT they refused to tell Which how many of the old ones are still out there or still on sale unless Which sign a non-disclosure agreement "which we are not prepared to do" - quite right, Which (Shock at Britax)

Which say if you have one, return it to the retailer for a replacement (one with the modified handle!) or a refund

Britax phone is 01264 386020, email is [email protected]

if you have one & you have experienced the problem please email Which [email protected]

You obviously read your Which? Magazine before me Ponders! I was just checking to see if there was a thread about this before starting one - but I'll bump yours instead.

Well I read the first few pages anyway, Rusty! Grin

I was wondering whether to ask MNTowers to make it a sticky - I bet loads of MNers have them

I have one of those! I thought it was just me being a weakling, it kept getting jammed on the pushchair frame one side would release but not the other,I gave up using it and bought a big car seat that just stays in the car and used the pushchair main seat.

Wish I'd have know of this before, I always buy britax as I thought they were the best most reliable brand, obviously not Sad

if you've still got the duff one, twinklebum, it sounds like you're entitled to a refund, as you don't need a replacement.

please do email Which & tell them what happened.

(I always used Britax seats too when my kids were small, it is a shame this one has let them down)

Does anyone know if this also covers the baby-safe plus II (not the shr model, the same seat but without pushchair adapters?)

Ah, read this in which: when they talk about "handle fail" I didn't realise this was the problem that led to the seat getting stuck in the adaptors. We had the same problem with the carsafe sleeper (cot-type-carseat-thing) so I didn't use it as a pram which was just as well as DS grew out of it at 10wks.

So, we got ours with Tesco clubcard points and DS has just about grown out of it so will see what they have to say! Knew i should have bought the maxicosi, sigh.

Dizzy77 - I was in MC today and measured the seat back height of the Maxi Cosi CabrioFix and the Baby Safe Plus II SHR and the Baby Safe. The Maxi Cosi had a 16" seat back and the Baby Safes had a 20" seat back.

So if your DS now has less than 1" of shell above his head on the Baby Safe (either version) he would be 3" over the top of the Maxi Cosi and would have out grown it months ago (baby buckets are out grown when there is less than 1" of shell above baby's head).

Could I be cheeky and ask how old/tall he is as we are looking at buying a baby bucket for the first time (other newborns were in First Classes or a loaner Primo Viaggios [hated that seat!]) and it would be interesting to find out when others babies outgrew theirs.
