hi my 16 month old is in a Britax Two way Elite and has never had to go FFing. He may have to start Nursery soon or go to a childminder and was wondering how practical its going to be for him to be RFing with either childminder or nursery. i know in nursery he may not need to go in a seat often but they willl need one for trips out etc...

also i have a few relatives that want to be able take my son out and about but the TWE doesnt fit in their cars as they all have small 3 door cars and i have to push the front passenger seat all the way forward to get it in. which isnt practical at all.

so im not sure what to do as i really do need to buy a second seat but dont really want him to be FFing if i can help it.

My mum has bought a TWE for her car so thats great and i got an extra set of tethers for the other set of grandparents so no problems there but its just with the aunts, uncles and childcare.

any suggestions? also what do you do if you child has a childminder? are they in RFing or FFing seats?

thanks

I've got a spare First Class (well all three DDs have a spareGrin) that is used rfing until 13kg is reached and ff after that. If your DS is under 13kg you could get a 0+/1 seat (Ultimax/First Class/Opal/etc [not a nania one as they only rf to 10kg]) then use ffing.

I know it's not ideal but how many times will he be taken out by cm? I'd insist on a rfing if DS would be taken on school run pick up/drop offs but not for an occasional drive to swimming pool etc.

You can use the TWE at the more upright recline now he's older - that might help with installing it in other's cars.

hi,
thanks i will look into the First class if it can be used Rfing until 13kg. I still use the TWE at the reclined position because DS always falls asleep in the car but i guess theres no reason why i cant put it in the upright position for others cars.
i'll just go and look up the First class now.

thank you

I'd check out the other 0+/1 seats as well as the First Class doesn't have rfing lock-offs so needs a car with retracting seat belts to be rock solid. I've been lucky that most cars I've used it in have them.
