Group 1 seat with a weight limit of >18kgs?

DS2 is a bit of a chunk!

He's 2.3 yet weighs 17.7 kgs already!

ATM he's in a Britax Eclipse seat which he still fits in comfortably, but the weight limit on the seat, and all other group 1 seats that I've found, is 18kgs.

The group 1/2/3 seats state that I've looked at say that the adult seat belt should be used from 15kgs.

He is far too young and short to use a carseat with just an adult belt so I need a group 1 seat with a higher weight limit.

Can anybody help?

hi, i have the britax two way elite which can be used to 25kgs. it is also a bit taller than the other seats which is good as ds is tall too. it can be used ff or rf with the harness. the multitech can be used rf with a harness too to 25kgs.

Where do they sell a Britax 2 way elite?

I can't even find it on the Britax website Confused

The Multitech is widely available but the Two Way Elite is only available in selected places like here. Thry are very helpful and you can get the TWE from them mail order.

So the multitech would have to be installed rearward facing to take advantage of the 25kgs 5 point harness.

I don't think ds2 would be too chuffed at being turned backwards again, but if that's the only way he can be safe, then so be it.

The other issue is that we currently have 2 car seats for him - one in each car as I always take him to nursery and DH often collects him. Unfortunately there's no way we could afford 2 of these (why are they so expensive?)

Any other (more affordable) solutions would be gratefully received.

the twe is easy to install and we have got an extra set of tether straps(not needed if ff) to leave in dp car. would it be an option to leave the seat at the nursery the dasy your dh is collecting him? you might be surprised about the rf thing-my mindees don't mind and they are ff in their parents car.

:)
