Camp Fires?

Do campers actually light fires these days?

I would love a little fire, but wonder is it frowned upon (or completely illegal) on a regular camp site.

If not, is it not a bit, well, dark at night? Are there other options if a fire is impossible?

here is a list of every site in the uk that allows camp fires

persoanlly i love campfires and we always try to stay on one of these sites if possible.

essentially sites either allow fires (those above) or dont allow them, and if they dont allow them dont expect to the site owners to appreciate you having a fire regardless!

Many thanks NannyL. I should have mentioned I'm in Ireland, but I guess the rules will be similar, I'll give a few sites a ring and see.

We have a fuel called Briquettes over here, which are basically compacted turf sliced into blocks, which would be v handy if I can find a site that allows fires.

I am a posh hotel kind of gal usually, but funds are low, so camping it is!

Ohhhh .......waft some of the smoke this way it's all a bit noisy. I love the smell of turf burning, reminds me of Grannies range!
