Is this a good buy? Wynnster Phoenix 6

Toying between Sunncamp Evolution DL (£200) or Wynnster Phoenix 6 (£140)?

Anyone got any opinions/suggestions?

There are two adults (one tall, one small) ad two small children. We are inexperienced campers... going to Camp Bestival later this year...

V terrified excited. Thanks!

They both look like very good tents to me, both reputable brands. I think you probably can't go wrong with either of them so pick the one you like best or which suits your budget best.

Personally I like the look of the Wynnster better, have heard good things about this brand and think that 140 quid is very very good value for money on a tent of that size.

You could ask on UK Campsite if anybody has personal experience of either tent, one might be easier to pitch than the other or summat like that. They have a special sub forum for asking for info about buying tents.

Great!
Thought it looked good, reviews seem good and yes, the price is a BIG attraction.

5000 hydrostatic whatsit!

They both look fine, I prefer the Sunncamp, but that's mostly aesthetic.

Personally I wouldn't take a tent that large or expensive to a festival, we have a forty quid pop up for such occasions, if the mud is bad they can can knackered and sadly some tents do get trashed by drunken twats other festival goers.

Can see that (though £150 isn't toooooo bad if it gets trashed). What would you recommend then?

I just have visions of us sat miserably in a tiny claustrophic tent while it pisses down outside... Am not overly won over by the camping idea tbh but dh is keen (but with space).

Oh I saw that Easy Camp one at a tent show at the weekend, it's not too bad actually.

It's quite low, you won't be able to stand in it, but I reckon it would do.

There is no way I would camp at a camp site in a small tent, but festivals are a bit of a different experience, we have a mahoosive tent for long summer trips and if the weather is crappy we can stay in and the kids can colour or play and we listen to the radio or read, as we have plenty of room. But if you're at a festival then surely you are going to be out and about all day regardless of the weather as there is so much to do and see, and you have paid lots of money to do it.

However I can completely see your point if you are not a keen camper, I'm not being much help am I .

I just think if you have a 'nice' tent at a festival there are some people who then presume you have 'nice' things in it, this has happened to a couple of friends of ours.

We have a wynnster sattelite 12 - huge 3 pod 12 man tent. This summer will be our 5th year using it and we have never had any problems whatsoever. It even lasted through 30mph gales on a cliff on the isle of wight a couple of years ago. (two famillies that we were with had their vango tents collapse)

Wynnster seem to be really good quality. Dh had never seen another brand that provided replacement poles, elastic and seam repair kit in with the tent as standard (none of which we have had to use)
