Not sure if I am in the right section as it's probably not exactly 'camping'?!
Looking to go to a French mobile home type resort for a 2-week end of June/early July holiday this year (don't need a kidsclub just lots of things for little ones to do and opps for dd to meet other children) ...it will be our first time for this kind of holiday and want to go somewhere not too big & busy and not too far to drive in France but with a good chance of warm weather (not much huh? ). Also would be fab to be within walking distance of a beach/lake and some town/village facilities...any suggestions of the best locations gratefully received!

Not been there for many years, but I went to Camping Bel in La Tranch with Keycamp when DD1 was about 4 - not too big a site, nice pool, could walk to the beach (not right on the beach, you had to walk throught the small town but a nice stroll) - though of course it could have changed.

At you LO's ages you couldn't leave them at a kids' club anyway as most start from 4, but look at Eurocamp - they do have Tumble Tots sessions if you are going in school term-time, which might be a nice way to break up the day. (not tried them as they weren't around for DD1, and couldn't take DD2 as they don't run in school hols/DD1 had started secondary school by then)

Oops - forgot location - it's in the Vendee, West Coast, not too bad a drive from some of the Northwest ports, chance of better weather than Brittany.

Thanks Housemum - that was really helpful - looks a great site and I didn't realise they did children's activities for youngsters where parents could stay....ideal! Much appreciated - am seriously thinking of booking this weekend!

The Vendee is fantastic, just far enough south that you get the good weather but still driveable in a day with children. Fantastic beaches, fab Zoo at Les Sables, everything you need for a fantastic family holiday.

Highly recommended!!!!!

I would recommend the Vendee as well. The beach at St Jean de Mont is lovely and the ocean shelves very gently so lovely for children. Children love the 'family bikes' on the seafront.
Boat trips on that canal thing, not too far from safari park (Planete Sauvage or whatsitcalled) and the zoo at Sables is good for children.
