Vango Gamma 450 and a Sun canopy ??..will it work?

It a desperate bid to eke out a bit more room in our 4 man tent for the five of us ..have gone and bought a Vango Sun canopy to add on to give added shelter for cooking etc .....(hopefully will be glorious next week and won't need it!!)..tis chucking it down here and so can't do trial run so a long shot I know.....
but has anyone had any experience of whether this combination will work?

Isn't the canopy much taller than your tent?? Won't it look odd, and maybe not work 'cause the tent won't be able to support it?? We bought an Aldi sun/rain shelter, like this but half the price that is free standing so we can put it beside our tent mainly to shelter the stove. and eating area, so I can have a cup of tea whatever the weather! Give it a try though, might work. Sorry can't be of more help.
