Hi ladies.
DP and I have decided that since we bought a fab tent/loo/everything we need to camp, and a little bedraggled after our usual package holiday, that next year we want to camp.
We really want to go to France. I can't find anywhere that lets us take OUR tentHmm
What am I doing wrong? How do we do this? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Sorry, but I am confused. Where have you been looking? If you pick an area and Google campsites in that area you should get loads of sites, all or most of which should provide the options of renting a mobile home (location in French I think) or a pitch (emplacement). Otherwise, try the search option for French sites on //www.ukcampsite.Co.UK, or the website campingfrance. Alternatively pick one of the big companies, like Flower camping, Castels or Yelloh. They may be pricier than some of the independent sites but tend to have good facilities.

Or if you have a particular area/town in mind, ask here for recommendations.

Good luck!

Hi. I've tried a few big operators. It seems to keep automatically giving me their tent at Euro camp Angry we really fancy Dordogne or Brittany but anywhere recommended we are going to look at. Thank you.

That is probably where you have been going wrong. Don't look at the operators like Eurocamp or Canvas Holidays as their whole point is that they provide the tents/mobile homes on campsites.

You can definitely get recommendations from here, particularly in the areas you are looking at. There are a couple of threads at the moment on a site called Les Valades that is loved by MNers, which I am fairly sure is in the Dordogne.

However, to get good recommendations, you need to think what you would like. Do you have children who would like pools/waterslides/kids' clubs, for example, in which case the companies like Yelloh, Castels and Flower might be a good start? Do you prefer somewhere quieter and more laid back without activities but in a beautiful area? In that case, take a look at the Cool Camping site //www.coolcamping.co.uk, as a starting point.

There is an area on here with reviews for campsites in France too - take a look on the Reviews link above.
