Icey-Tek - what size?

Me again...sorry.
Can I get away with the 25 ltr? You can lay a wine bottle flat in it can't you?
Next size up is 40 ltr...I am concerned about the bulk of it and taking up travelling space. Do I need to find room for it somehow?
Thanks.

We have the 40 l and it is bulky but i can't imagine managing with 25 l.

I've been thinking the same but the old shit one we currently use I reckon is about 25L as are most standard ones I think. We manage fine with that amount of space normally. I think if we packed a massive iceytek I'd have to leave one of the children at home Wink

I'm still trying to decide!

ha ha. it was the most troublesome bit of kit for us last year as you can't just squeeze it in somewhere. The good thing about ice-tek is it does chill stuff down so you don't need to put all your wine/beer for the week in at once and keep it cool to have a chance of a cold beer on day 3. So I'm sure you would manage with a 25.

we had the 25 litre ones for our glamping site for 3 of our units initially, and I had my own 55l one which we used for the other unit. Most of our campers came for 3-4 days at a time.

The 25 litre ones seemed to do OK for the couples, but they were not big enough once the groups got bigger, especially once they started to want to put wine in as well. Also when they had hampers we had to break their french loaves in half - never a good look!!

We have now upgraded all the units to the 55 litre boxes. In funky colours!

Personally I would opt for the 40 litre, especially if you have more than 2 of you, or camp for longer than a weekend.

We don't have an Icey-Tek but a plug in cool box, and went for the 40l. It is troublesome as it takes a lot of space, but we manage to fill it to the brim every time!

I've ordered the 40 ltr in green. Waiting for the gel packs to come back into stock so I can buy four (will need a set to use and a set to freeze on an extended trip) at an additional cost of £50.

Including the exorbitant delivery charge of £12, this bloody cool box is going to end up costing me a whopping £180!

God I hope it does what it says on the tin.

Pictish, after reading this thread yesterday I decided to bite the bullet and got a green 40ltr as well - great minds! I am going for cheapo gel packs off amazon though, can't get my head around the cost otherwise :)

isimbardo - totally. I have ummed and ahhed over this purchase for weeks. Soooo expensive. But if it work, will be soooo good. Imagine having cold milk, wine and cheese on a camping trip!

Pictish - I've been ummming and ahhhing for 2 years as can never make my mind up between Red/Orange 25/40L!!!

Did buy the gel packs last year though and they are fab (use them in the old Coleman cool box my son found in the local charity shop for £8 - which kind of makes the decision above harder).

When the gel packs came there was a leaflet with a free delivery code to share with friends, but unfortunately it's no longer valid (i momentarily came to a decision the other day and went to buy but fell at the last hurdle).

I was toiling between red, yellow or green. I got stupidly flappy about making the final decision.
We have a yellow wooden camping chuck box, red camping pots and pans and utensils and a green Coleman duel fuel petrol stove.

I plumped for the green in the end. Green is my favourite colour.
