Total Cobb virgin here.

I am thinking of buying a Cobb for this year's camping but there seem to be lots of optional extras you can buy to go with it - griddle, frying pan, frying dish and roast rack, appear to be the main ones.

Can I ask seasoned Cobb users which, if any, of these you find most useful and which are just nice to haves but not used that often?

Also do you find the Cobb cobblestones the best or are the ultra quick BBQ bricks better?

TIA

We got a discount of a set, by the time we would have bought 2 extras, it was the same amount for the set.

In order of what we use the most on the cobb-
fry pan
griddle
fry dish

We also use the fry pan and dish on our gas stove.

We have used cobblestones, cheap cobblestones from home bargains whose name escapes me now- Lokken?, normal charcoal and lumpwood charcoal. I prefer the cheap cobblestones purely for ease but a bag of charcoal is easier to source if you want to buy at a campsite.

We use the griddle the most (found ours in Gumtree last summer and it came with the griddle) - our favourite is griddling salmon, halloumi, asparagus and baby corn with baby potatoes in oil and foil underneath but I got the fry fish for Christmas so I can try a curry. I haven't tried it yet.

I've barely used the plate it comes with - maybe for a pizza or two.

Do check out gumtree though, we got loads of kit for £60

I would second looking on gumtree and ebay.
