Recommend a cheap campsite that you might not find easily online

I've been searching for campsites to visit this year and have found the prices to be astronomical! This got me thinking, there must be loads of little campsites that don't cost the Earth, that don't necessarily appear in an online search. I'll start :

  1. Tir Glyn, Aberdarron www.tirglyn.com

Lovely site at the end of the Lleyn Peninsula, cost £12 a night 3 years ago, can't find a price on the website. Amazing views, walking distance to the beach and fantastic walks to the headland.

Although it has a website, it's hard to find!

  1. Lyndon top, rutland water www.lyndontop.com

Amazing views of rutland water, completely flat, beautiful site. £7 a night per unit! No hook up and only a toilet.

Not as cheap as yours, but here's a site in Suffolk that we went to a couple of year's ago St Margaret's

And here's one in Essex that I discovered today and might try a weekend at Walton Hall

Merrylands Campsite, Chiddingly, inland from Eastbourne, Hailsham area.
£10 per night, per tent. No extra charges! Or was it £5 per adult, per night and no charge for kids? It was CHEAP anyway.
Merrylands
Fires allowed, camp where you like, compost toilets, hot showers.

Hi,

Not sure if this is useful or not but my husband and I stayed in a campsite Camping Senterada in Llieda, Spain.

www.campingsenterada.cat

It's about 2 hours drive from Barcelona.

They have a pool, a small park, a donkey, cats and dogs.

I would recommend it because it was so laid back and friendly. They didn't speak much English but lots of pointing could make both sides understood.

All facilities were clean.

There was a restaurant with a simple menu - I had a fish salad and husband had goat. It should be noted though, if you are looking for burger and chips they don't do anything like that. They serve fantastic traditional fresh foods.

I think what really made the campsite for me was when I asked for a bottle of white wine they had ran out so instead offered a bottle of decent cava for €5! Dinner was dirt cheap too!

There is also a small village 5 mins walk away which has a couple of restaurants.

This place also has bungalows which can be a nice alternative to camping.

We used this campsite as a base for 2 nights for walks in the Pyrenees then moved on to Cadaques, north of Barcelona (near the French border).

Perhaps I should mention the Cadaques campsite too.

This was a bigger campsite. It had a pool, large restaurant and bar.

It is in the very swanky Cadaques. An apartment there is about £600 at the very cheapest so camping is a good option.

I can't fault the campsite, it was clean and had everything we needed.

It also has a residential cat feral cat colony. They won't go near you, unless you feed them. They are all wee scaredy cats.

Any questions about either campsite, please don't hesitate to ask.
