Don't know the proper names, but sites at Buttermere and Glenridding in the Lakes.
Mind you, Glenridding only has a few square feet that are actually flat....

Shell Island near Harlech North Wales is an island. Basically you can pitch anywhere so long as you're not within a certain yardage to anybody else. Can't remmeber how far you have to be.

We also pitched on a site that was extremely basic up a mountain near Shell Island. Had to wash in a river and there was a portaloo but that was it.

Was going to say Shell Island. 20 yards unless by permission of those who got there first. Its great because its massive and you can get some privacy. Best to camp in the conservation area well away from the rather scary on site pub.

1 Hollands wood in the New forest. If you look carefully you can even find some very secluded spots. But it is a popular site and becomes busy in July/August.

2 Dont know the name, but it is at Tintagel fairly close to the Tintagel Hotel which looks like a castle.

3 This one's a bit special. Blackberry wood (Sussex). Although it does have set "pitches" to camp, these are all in seperate glades in the woods. This makes it feel as though you really are roughing it. The second thing is that they actually encourage FIRES. Yes, you can have a lovely camp fire to sit around (seats and occasional pixies included). But they are booked up for most weekends!

Scotts farm - west wittering. One of those without a bar/entertainment type sites but has a kids play area, we liked it.

no bar or entertainment is how I like my camping! I make my own entertainment!
