Been trying to spot the Mnetters but there's a lot more Brits than I thought - maybe they all are!

It really is gorgeous like everybody has said. The kids spent all day yesterday in the lake and then toasted marshmallows in the camp fire, they have made lots of new friends and are loving it. Dh has discovered that they sell an abundance of Belgium beer here in France so he thinks he's died and gone to heaven plus we have a full sized fridge to chill them in Smile

So glad you're enjoying it - I knew you would. The fridge is such a bonus as it makes everything so much easier. My two love the canoes and dh likes the fishing. Are there really lots of English there now? There were just 3 British families there when we were there at the end of July - everybody else was Dutch or French which made it tricky for my 2 to make many friends.
Have you visited Limeuil yet? If you head towards Sarlat you'll find even more Brits but the gardens at Chateau de Marqueyssac are well worth a visit.
Currently sitting in drizzle in tent in Anglesey Sad

Noooooo, she's not! She's a big hairy-handed trucker called Stuart! Don't meet her!

Have not heard of Les Valades, but if it is near Limeuil and Sarlat then it will be fabulous. Have had several fantastic holidays in that area - so beautiful.

wowzers! Just looking at this site on the web, and it's amazing! I only joked last week about having my own loo on a campsite and VOILA!

One question though, mosquitos make my life a misery, what are they like there, having a lake?

Enjoy the rest of your holiday x

What pitch number are you hillbilly? We were 16 this time, down in the corner along the top row facing the open space with the pine trees. there are glow worms living in the grass there which look lovely at night when you're gong to clean your teeth Smile

We are 60 down by the pool which has been great for us. No mozzies and shaded too.

What's the weather like?

Flossiechops · 25/08/2013 10:22

We are at the top next to where you were Lucycat - the whole row is now empty and looking into the pitches below are too. The weathers not so good yesterday or today - I'm a bit disappointed to be honest as I expected wall to wall sunshine, it's our first time in France so maybe I'm a bit naive?! Next year we will come earlier in the season I think as I prefer it busier!

Hillbilly - we have left now but met you when we were there! Two families, one with twin girls, I was the mum of the boys though! Hope you are still having a fantastic time.

We loved it but as DS has mobility issues we weren't prepared for the steepness of the whole site. DS got quite tired and therefore a bit ratty. Id's love to find somewhere just like it but flatter. Any ideas? Having the lake and the kayaks made the whole thing just brilliant so we would consider coming back if we can't find anything similar.

Flossiechops it was certainly busy earlier on but not completely full all the time - we had much better weather this year than 3 years ago when we last came, then we had a whole week of dodgy weather which was why we headed south last year and this year for a week too. For really good weather then east tends to be better - the Ardeche and south down the Rhone valley is good.
We will probably go back to Domaine de Massereau next year or possibly Chateau de Boisson.
as for lakes then look at lac de pareloup which is meant to be nice.

Hi HairyMaclary - yes I remember you! Totally understand the issue you had with the steepness of the site as a whole.

Lucycat - thanks for recommending it. We absolutely loved it. It definitely ticked all the boxes for us. We intend to return next year as there's so much more to discover in the area and 9 days as not long enough.
