SUGAR ADDICT

I am a sugar addict.
I know it is really bad for me- it has affected my health and weight.
Anybody else a sugar addict?
I eat a bar of chocolate every day and jelly sweets/liquorice all sorts/percy pigs.
I don't use actual sugar in my coffee or tea.
Any suggestions re detox, apart from iron will power ?

I would have said the same a while back but I reached my heaviest ever weight and decided I needed to diet. By chance I stumbled on BIWIs bootcamp on here, it is a low carb diet so restricts all carbs and it has reset my sugar cravings in a way that Weight Watchers and Slimming World all failed to do as I ate loads of fruit on them
There is a bootcamp starting today if you are interested in the weight loss section

Incidentally, since I've cut it right down I notice I feel very sluggish and achey if I fall off the wagon so now have an incentive to stay off it

I agree- cold turkey is the way to go with sugar. I also do BIWIs low carb bootcamp and I felt awful for two days while not having sugar- headachy, sluggish, irritable.
After those two days, I didn't look back.

It's amazing how quickly your tastebuds adjust to less sweetness- now if I have sugary things, it tastes oversweet and yucky!

I find cold turkey just sets me up to fail. I plan my meals on mfp the night before and include a sweet treat in the evening within my calorie allowance. My current favourite is reeces peanut butter cups that come in packs of 2 so I eat them both. That satisfies but I make sure I enjoy them rather than focusing on TV and then realising i devoured them without even noticing.
I also don't have breakfast but do have coffee with a dash of caramel syrup (which I include on mfp).
I believe in eating everything in moderation so sugar is fine but I need to train myself to moderate. Saturday I was dreadful as I took dd to a cafe and they had peacan caramel slices that looked amazing. I had one but then had a tiny dinner so was still under my 1200 calories. Not very healthy but as a one off it wasn't a complete disaster and I've still lost a pound so far this week (weigh in is Wednesday for me so fingers crossed I might shift a second pound).

I've just given up refined sugar, cold turkey is the only way I'm afraid

I'm 6 days in and I've lost 5lb (have over 9st to lose in total) but I feel great. I've loads more energy, I'm not as cranky and feel more settled within myself

I'm not going to lie, the first couple of days are pretty rough but once you're through them you'll never look back
