10 week old losing her appetite - why?

Hello, need some advice... over the last 3 days my 10 week old dd has suddenly shortened the lenght of her feeds quite dramatically. She on a 3 hour routine, and used to spend about 20 minutes (but only have one breast) feeding. All of a sudden she seems to be 'finished' in 10 minutes, but if I offer her the other breast, then she'll have another 5 - 10 minutes or so. She's still quite little for her age (around 10lbs), but doesn't seem hungry and has been unusually calm and content. I am slightly freaked. What is it? I know babies are supposed to become more efficient eaters but it's just happened overnight... Up until now, she's been gaining around 7-9 ozs per week, and I'm worried that she'll lose weight.

The only other thing is that she's been drooling a lot, and I'm not sure whether this might be the start of teething.

This can be normal, tms....even this dramatic change. I don't see what's wrong with it, really....you are doing the right thing, responding to her finishing what she wants of the first breast and then offering her the second one.

If there is nothing else apparently 'wrong', then just get her weighed to reassure yourself she is fine. It won't matter if she doesn't continue to gain at that rate, but I agree with you, losing weight would not be desirable.

The other suggestion would be to offer the breast at other times, without sticking to the 3 hourly routine.

She sounds fine, though.
