The HV that runs the group grabbed me as I was leaving and asked me if I would be interested in doing the 10 week course.. I can't believe it, I have wanted to do this since Callum was tiny tiny

Well done! You've got so much useful experience, you'll be great.

Good on you SGK you will be brilliant especially with all the experience you've had with Callum.

SGK you would be fab going onto SCBU's and helping mothers of tinies....IMO there is a real lack of tiny dedicated help.

When DTDs were in the only mothers that went home successfully bf were those who had successfully bf a DC1 previously....

I actually recommended MN to another mum, something I never do.. because she is going through exactly the same that I went through with callum.

How wonderful.
Will it interfere with your complaint or are they seperate departments?

SparklyGothKat · 02/05/2008 17:06

haven't got round to the complaint yet.. Not sure if it will be a problem actually [worried]

Personally, if you're going to be in a position to help and you think the complaint might hinder things I'd leave it for a while, get the training and then see about complaining, or explain to said doctor that now you have your training you're aware just how bad his advice was and that unless he sends all future people with BF issues to the BF clinic you will be making a formal complaint.

What training is it you're doing?
I'm assuming it will cover going over your own BF experiences, the basics of Bfing, the common problems, things like that latch and flat nipples, the latest stats on Bfing, the risks of formula etc, but then I've enver trained so could be wrong!

I have no idea lol!! All HV said was would I be interested in training and becoming a Peer supporter for the Clinic. And that I would be a great help.

SGK is it the La Leche League Peer Supporter training? That is the one I have done, but I know the ABM do something very similar, I think it's called "mother supporter" or something like that?
