I just feel like this tip should have a thread to itself as it gets lost amongst the "best bfing tip ever" threads. And I don't take credit for it, it came from mumsnet but I tell every mother I meet and buy them for my new mum friends. Ok you want to know what it is don't you?

BUY A THERMAL MUG!

I like this one. In fact I have two, one for me and one for DH. See both parents can make use of them. The magic of them is several-fold:

  1. Keeps your tea/coffee/hot chocolate warm so you actually get to drink a warm drink during the first few months
  2. You can drink while feedings/holding the baby without worrying about spilling hot liquid on them
  3. When your baby gets older and tries to take your drink from you they won't burn themself
  4. DH can bring you a cup of tea in the morning before going to work while you are still dozing and it'll still be warm when you finally wake up

Do you need any more convincing? Go out and buy one now. Go on!

I second this!

I got a cheap one (about £3) from Sainsburys, and it keeps tea warm for over an hour.

The reason why I like the Berghaus ones is that they are metal inside so they don't retain the taste IYKWIM? I've had cheap ones before and had fruit tea in them then they forever taste of fruit tea!

They stay useful way past babyhood and into the 'distracting small child' stage. Mine goes to the park if I managed to be organised enough (particularly excellent one from the Spy Museum in Washington DC).

Hi DCMB I will have to take mine into work too! The amount of times I have wondered around the building struggling with notepads, pens and balancing a cup of tea!

(Just over a month till I go back - eeek!)

Ooh, not long! I will start laying a trail of biscuits to my desk ... or just a virtual one, leading to a tiny 'hello bumper' on my wiki page.

Good luck with the return to work if our paths don't cross before then, I'm sure you'll be fine.
