Infant feeding

11mo old renewed interest in BF - does this often happen?

DS stopped being interested in BF in the day around 6mo or so. (In fact earlier, but I managed to trick him by feeding when sleepy in the day just before naps). The last few months he's been having some formula in the day and at bedtime, then having BF when wakes at night.

However, lately he's been interested in BF during the day again - now that he knows where the boobs are and what they are for! - He pulls at my top kisses my chest and tries to get his head down there! Is this fairly typical for BF babies when they reach this age? I find it so cute that I don't have the heart to stop him, esp when he lunges at me if I take a bath with him, or when he sees me getting dressed / undressed!

ahh, thanks! Have just gone back to work p/t so suspect that's prob more why he's doing it, but it is lovely when I pick him up and he just nuzzles his head down!

Ds did this and then lost interest again. I think it may have been at almost exactly 11mo weirdly.

thanks bookthief, maybe ds will do same then. it's just that I'd accepted emotionally that BF was on it's way out and don't want to go up and down with it for ages! Plus would like to start thinking about TTC no.2 and seems like I'm one of those women who need to stop the BF totally to get periods back as no sign yet!

I'm definitely not ttc, but I didn't get my periods back until I went down to one feed a day at Christmas (ds was 13mo). I got my period literally 2 days later dammit!

He's 14mo now and I'm still keeping the morning feed because it gives me an extra 15min in bed. I know most people end up just with the bedtime feed but I'm very lazy . No complaints from ds although I've given him the odd quick extra feed on an adhoc basis if he's been upset and he's happily taken them.

This arrangement seems to suit us quite well for now. Dh wanted me to stop but seemed to get less enthusiastic at the idea when I told him he'd have to get up earlier to get ds his breakfast
