Dreamfeeding and 12 week bub......

DH has given DS a 10pm dreamfeed of EBM via bottle from 4 weeks old. DS guzzles between 5 - 6 fl. oz in 20 mins then goes straight back down. I managed to drop 1am feed a few weeks back and DS was then waking between 3-4 for a feed. In the last week i also dropped a cluster feed in the hope of upping DS's intake at the 10pm feed.

The last 2 nights however, it has taken DH 1 1/2 hrs to feed DS the same amount - apparently DS is totally zonked. But after these feeds DS is not waking til 5-6 in the morning.

The question I have is do i have DH perservere with giving dreamfeed? (i want to keep DS in the habit of taking from a bottle and also i understood that dreamfeeds are not dropped until bubs are introduced to solids). DH is happy to continue. Or do i drop the feed and see what happens?

i am inclined to persevere as i dont think DS will go til 5/6 in the morning without it - but please let me know what you all think.

I never have done dream feeds for either dd1 or 2.

DD1 ( mixed fed for 4wks then bottle) woke at 11pm and 3am untill she was about a year then she drop the 11pm feed and only woke at 3am feed untill she was 2years old.

DD2 is 12 weeks tomorrow (bottlefed) and hasn't had feed between 6.30pm and 3am for weeks. So she goes from 6.30 to 6.30 with only one feed.

I think it depends on the child. By the time dd1 was 12 weeks she was having 7oz bottles but dd2 is only managing between 4 and 6oz every 4 hours.

thanks lizzie mum - I think I wouls rather that DS takes a feed at 10pm from DH (plus it is the only time he sees DS during the week) and goes til 6am, then drop the 10pm feed for DS to then wake at 3am.

I think you are right, will depend on DS. will wait and see what happens over the next few nights....any more mnetters with any advice?
