Is your hospital baby friendly??

Right girls I have a link and I'm not afraid to use it

WRT breastfeeding or formula feeding our babies, I think we are a lucky bunch of ladies, having all the information available so we can make an informed decision.

I only wish more people had the same chances to decide for themselves exactly what they felt suited them best with the proper information/support.

This is why I'm gonna ask you all to write to the closest hospital to you that doesn't have baby friendly status or hasn't applied for it.

It will only take a minute, and you don't even have to write the letter yourself, just click the link next to your hospital and print it out, stick it in an envelope and post it.

This is not me on a 'make everyone breastfeed' war, just me hoping that as mothers we can appreciate the amount of information and support that goes into both deciding whether to BF or not, and then being able to carry out your choice.

Pro-choice and pro-information, not pro-breastfeeding, oh and I'm not a nazi

The link

Hunker, thanks again for the link, you certainly got a bee in my bonnet!

my hospital is down as having 'no information', but i know they are working towards baby friendly status .

also, they have the number of births down as something like 2000 less than it really is.. so not sure how accurate this site is !

Really Lulu?? Mine is too, and I was surprised tbh, as we have a wonderful womens centre, and are part of the milkbank scheme, but it's no harm for those of us whose hospitals don't have any info on there that aren't as clued up as you

Facilities with a Certificate of Commitment are in the process of becoming Baby Friendly and are working to improve the way they care for mothers and babies. These facilities may not yet provide the highest standard of care, as the necessary changes are still being made. Facilities which have registered their intention to work towards accreditation have not been assessed and we have no information about the standard of care they currently provide. (from the website)

So they are willing to say they'll try but havent done it as yet, you could write to see how they are doing with their plans though.
