18 month DS self weaned - feeling sad and concerned as not drinking any other milk

Hi - subject says it all really - 18 month old has started to refuse any milk from me - he was feeding a little before bed and a bit during the night but now fights me if I so much as show him a breast! Feeling rather sad about the end of BF especially as we got off to a tricky start.

Has anyone else had a feeding strike spell similar or is this just the end of BF? He isn't interested in cow's milk so should I be worried about his calcium intake?

Hi Bojangles, does he take cow's milk in other ways, e.g. weetabix in the morning, yoghurts and cheese etc? My dd is 12 months and is down to one bf per day, before bed. I can't get her to take any milk at all from a bottle or cup, so I'm just trying to get her to take as much as possible in these other ways. I think the ideal is about 1 pint a day in total. So if he does take milk in other ways like this, his calcium intake is probably fine. Don't know about the nursing strike bit though. I'm hoping to cut out the final feed in a month or so, having stopped all the rest over the last few months. I was worried that my DD would really miss the bf but it has to be said she hasn't, in fact I think I'm the only one who is upset! So I think that lots of children perhaps lose interest around this age? Anyway, good luck!
