7 week old just threw up all her medicine - should I give it to her again?

Hi there - I seem to be asking loads of questions tonight, sorry to be a pain!

My DD2 just had .47ml of ranitidine and .7ml of trimethaprim then one dropper of infacol. She had been unsettled since her last feed (she's got reflux) and within seconds of starting this feed, she was violently sick. I know this goes with the territory of reflux but I don't know if I should give all the medicines again with her next feed. She's meant to have the ranitidine 3 times a day and the trimethaprim once a day...

She has now taken her milk and gone to bed a much happier baby.

I am a nurse, and if a patient vomits their meds back (even if you can see the undigested tabs) sorry if tmi, you don't give the meds again as best practice, in that you don't know how much they've taken, in your dd's case which is taking liquid meds there's no way you can tell what she's had and you may overdose her, I personally wouldn't.

I personally wouldn't give medicine again because you can't be sure how much was ingested.

Poor you and dd, reflux is so hard.

Thank you, I've never been sure on this but then DS and DD1 were never this ill, especially so young in life!

Yes sushi, its turning out to be a nightmare and I'm struggling to watch her in so much pain. She also has a stoma bag and is due a big operation in a few weeks time - its not fair that she's got this on top of it!!! I can't complain though, from the research I've been doing on it, she seems to have it reasonably mildly in that she sleeps fine through the night and has good days on it. Somedays its 'silent' and somedays (like today) its a nightmare!

We only started the ranitidine and gaviscon late Thursday evening so I'm guessing it'll take a few days before we see any improvement. She wasn't too bad the few days before but a week before that she was really suffering.

My heart goes out to all those coping with reflux, it really does!
