i thought it was nothing but bm till

but one friend of mine that said she ex bf for 6 months said she gave baby rice at 4 months

have i got the wrong end of the stick thinking its nothing at all other than bm ?

exclusive means just that.....BM and nothing else.

and yes it is achievable, and the current guidelines from WHO

Exclusive means at the exception of all other things surely? If your friend gave baby rice at 4 months then breastfeeding was no longer exclusive.

You're right.

And it's definitely achievable

As far as I know exclusively breastfeeding means baby has nothing other than breastmilk to drink/eat. No rice, no nothing.

As the others say, exclusive is just that.
of course it is realistically achievable - But for every baby? I am not sure.
Much more realistically achievable is "sometime around the middle of their first year" (rather than a set 6mo exactly).

robin, as the others said, you are correct, it means exclusive bm for 6 month...and yes it is very achievable...I did this with ms and ys, and they both thrived, ms is a slighter build and ys is a chubby lil man...was greedy to boot, but obviously was thriving on bm..

achieved it with my youngest 2, my older went onto to formula at 4 months because I couldn't express enough to keep up when I returned to work!
