Infant feeding

How long does your 9mo BF for?

I'm sorry if this has been done to death elsewhere, but I'm opting for the easy option of just asking.

My dd has a morning and evening BF (I'm working) and she often literally just sucks for 15 secs during the let-down and that's it.

...cue usual paranoia about milk supply and is she getting enough milk, etc. She takes 4-6 oz of formula during the day, and 1-2oz water with lunch and tea.

Can't seem to keep her interested for any longer... despite feeding in a dark room

I think they can breastfeed much quicker than cup or bottle - my DS was fully breastfed at 9 months but I cannot for the life of me remember how long for, not long - sometimes only 2 mins.

My dd (10 months) feeds to about 10 mins in the morning and 20mins at night, I think. I don't pay much attention any more! She also has a couple of quick feeds in the day. I never had a very strong let down though.

I read somewhere that at a year old babies only take about 2 min to bf compared to 30 min as a baby baby as they are so much more efficient at getting the milk. At about 11mth my dd had a sick bug...only bf her for a couple of min so as not to overfill her tum. You would have been amazed at how much came out when she threw up

If she doesn't want anymore...she doesn't want anymore. As long as she looks and seems fine in herself...try...not to worry! (says Mrs Worry 2007 )

Cheers ladies. Sometimes you just need someone to talk sense at the demons in your head...
