Where do you think the government should be focusing their attention?

Promoting BF or Supporting BF?

I go with SUPPORT after 2 failed attempts.

Educating and supporting. The pre-natal bf advice I was given was pathetic, and the post-natal support next to useless (until I contacted a NCT bf counsellor).

Educating and supporting absolutely. But considering the amount of formula milk promotion we are bombarded with constantly, a bit of promotion of breastfeeding wouldn't go amiss either.

If you look at the figures, a huge proportion of mums start to bf in hospital (80 odd per cent I think), but by 6 months less than 1/4 are giving any breast milk at all. A lot of that dropoff must be due to the rubbish support offered. The promotion in the health service at least seems to be good (all though difficult to compete with the formula giants).
