Thrush - Nystan or Daktarin - which is more effective?

Got thrush so I picked up Daktarin at the weekend and started using it until I could see GP
GP prescribed Nystan (with last child got Daktarin)
I didn't actually see the GP just spoke on the phone but wondered which is more effective?

Do I need to wipe the Nystan off before feeding? It smells horrid

Also can I carry on using Lansinoh?

Daktarin oral gel much better than nystatin for nips and baby, I'd try & get some if possible & doesn't need to be wiped off (unlike nystatin).

Not sure about lansinoh but moisture helps thrush grow so I'd keep the nips clean, dry & airing as much as possible. Maybe just put lansinoh on before a feed to make the nipple supple?

Sympathies - had thrush with dd - ouch! Are you taking fluconazole at all?

Hi Liath
Not taking fluconazole but will go back to the Daktarin now I think
It has gotten a bit better on one side but the other is hellish

How are you doing?

Not bad so far, feeding much better than his sister but still hard work getting it going.

Hope you get hold of the daktarin. How's things otherwise?

I had deep breast thrush with my dd and then again with ds. The docs all wanted to prescribe creams and these had no effect what so ever. If you have severe pain deep in the breast then you have to take oral solution. Fluconazoleworked for me but it's not instant and can take up to 3 wks to work. it's an awful thing to go through. Hope you feel better soon!
