Is this ok? I have hurt my knee and would like to take it regularly for several days to get the swelling down.

Thanks.

They advise you to take it if you have a blocked duct or mastitis so I guess it would be ok to take for other reasons too

my gp told me this wasn't ok. But I have taken it for mastitis, and I also think it was prescribed for after contractions after childbirth. I took a relatively small dose

belgo you gp told you rubbish. it IS ok. kellymom.com has a list of what is safe and this is one of them. i have taken it thro' bf when i have had headaches. best thing to do with meds. (even safe ones) is to take them 2 hours or so BEFORE a feed esp. if you have a very young baby.

ms pea - how old is your baby ?

it is also safe to give to young babies in very small doses who have fever/teething, etc. most baby pain killers have paracetemol or ibuprofen.

well they send you home with voltorol following a section which is the same kind of drug (Non steriodal anti inflammatory) so I can't see why not.

I have always been told only paracetamol based substances when pg and bfing.

Report
Washersaurus · 14/04/2007 13:27

I was given both paracetamol and ibruprofen whilst in hospital after giving birth and whilst breastfeeding (to relieve my pain and suffering) so it must be OK.
