Expressed milk or formula when at work?

I'm going back to work at the beginning of September, when DS will be 9 months. I'll be working 3 days one week and 4 days the next.

At the moment, all his milk comes from me and I'm trying to decide how he'll get his milk in September.

Points for formula

  1. I won't have to express during the day (envisage problems with my not so family friendly employer )
  2. I know he is OK with formula as he has had it occasionally

    Points for expressing
  3. I want to bf him when I'm not at work; if I don't express will my supply adjust so I can't?
  4. Less faff then having to make up bottles and take them to nursery

Also I'm not sure how much milk he'll need during the day time then - might I be worrying about nothing?

    Thank you!

I work full time and dd is 9 months.
I started by expressing at work but stopped for several reasons and instead express when I get home.
I feed her in the morning and evening and whenever at the weekend and have no problems with leaking etc at work.
I get about 6-8 oz to leave although sometimes it can be only 4. I have some in the freezer as back up but also have ready made packets of formula in case.

I'm on holiday now until sept when dd will be 11 months and I wont bother doing any expressing then. She will have solids only and milk in her food or from me when I'm home.

I was going to give more formula during the day but her skin reacts to it whereever it touches so that put me off.

Mine only had 4-5 oz EBM/day at that age, when at nursery. Desperate 2 nurse when they got home, tho.
I would try expressing & supplement w/ formula when/if convenient.

Thanks - that's made me feel better about September! He'll be having settling in sessions soon so I'll experiment a bit there.

I expressed for a month at work when DD was 8-9 months, but my supply went right down so I stopped and she had a couple of small beakers of formula instead, e.g. 4 oz each time (ready made was more convenient when I wasn't there). I still carried on with evening/morning bf till 13 months.
