Milk fully in on day 2?

So, it is 48 hours since my baby arrived and it really appears my milk has come in. My breasts have shot up in size and feel solid and heavy. This started while he was on a marathon two-hour feed on one side. After burping him, he spat up some yellowish sick (colostrum ?) and then had insisted on starting to feed on the other side.

Nothing I've read has suggested milk comes in before day 3 and often longer. I assume I don't need to be worried that he is presumably taking relatively huge feeds now at just 2 days old? I'm mostly delighted as he is high risk for jaundice so the more he takes the better but I don't want to over feed him or make him sick. Any thoughts?

Strangely the swelling isn't milk it just occurs at the same time as the switch from colstrum to milk. Provided you and your baby are feeling good then nothing to worry about.
Is it your second baby?

I wouldn't worry about overfeeding - he will take as much as he needs.

My milk came in within 48 hours. I was still in hospital and was very surprised! If baby has been feeding a lot it could be your breasts have been stimulated to produce more quickly. That's what the midwife said had happened to me!

Congrats on your LO Smile

I had an EMCS with DS2 at 37+4, with no labour before hand. Much to my surprise my milk came in early on day 2, which meant I could express for my DS who was being tube fed. I wouldn't worry about it at all, as your baby will take what they want and then stop. Congratulations btw!
