I have got into a bad habit with dd3. She is 28 week sold and nearly always falls asleep at the boob at night. She can get quite grumpy if I dont give in to her.

She has a cheast infection at the momment and has taken to comforting herself during the day in the same fashion.

The thing is, she still sleeps in my bed at night and wakes up several times.
This doesnt really bother me, but I do see advantages in being able to put her down in a cot.

I am totally soft and will cave if she gets too upset, I was just wandering if there is a nice way to get her to start going to sleep without the boob.

I wouldn't feel guilty my dd is nearly 10m and we still co-sleep - it is only a problem if it is a problem for you(iykwim) - I weaned my ds off night feeds at around 18m but tbh it had dropped off considerably by then naturally and the transition was gradual - he was in a bed at 19m (from bedside cot in our room to bed in his own room) - and we had a whole month to enjoy our freedom before dd was born!!

Still had to teach him to fall asleep alone by gradual withdrawl then rapid return methods - but a couple of weeks of disruption lead to a very happy boy sleeping in his own room. So I am not worried about dd wwe will do the same for her when we are ready to.

Good luck with whatever you decide - only you know what is going to work best for you and your dd.

the boob is a hard one to break - food, warmth, comfort, cuddle, mummy - hard sell to 'persuade' them gently that its much nicer without.
