Cows Milk Protein Allergy or Intolerance?

Hello smile

My 7 week old granddaughter has been diagnosed with either cows milk protein allergy or intolerance. And as bad as it sounds neither myself or my daughter in law can remember what was actually said yesterday at the Drs. And all I can say in our defense is that we spoke about allergies a lot in general and we also spoke about intolerance. We are going back to the Drs in a few days to have it all explained again but in the meantime can someone pls explain the difference between the two.

Baby is doing a lot better now that my daughter in law is 3 weeks in to a dairy free diet. Tomorrow she'll also stop eating eggs.

Thank you

Hello,

My 8 week old LG also has a suspected intolerance and she was put on a prescription hydrolysed formula just over a week ago now. I'm no expert in the slightest but I think the intolerance is just where they are unable to digest the milk protein, the doctor said to us for her to be on it for 6 weeks and then they will slowly re introduce normal formula to try and build up a tolerance to it so it doesn't effect her. An allergy I imagine is where thy would be completely unable to have it all and have a complete dairy free diet. Apparently they can grow out of an intolerance anytime between age 0-5 and can't imagine they would grow out of an allergy but again I'm no expert so maybe a question for the doctors? If you google CMPA there is a website and they have FB support groups as well where I've been able to get a bit of information. Hope that helps a little bit...
