Infant feeding

22 week old and trying to take bottle?

I have a 5 and a half month old who is EBF.

I'm going away in a few weeks time so have tried her with bottle. She has taken it previously as a one off at 3 months but completely refusing it now.

She'll be looked after by my DM but just wondering what else I can try?

Thanks for advice.

Sippy cup?

Keep trying. At a time when you reckon she'll be both hungry and good-humoured enough (for us that was mid-morning), go out and leave her with a patient person and a bottle. Come back in 2 hours. Repeat as often as possible. She will eventually take it.
Good luck!

Agree with the suggestions above. DC is ebf and 24 weeks. He can manage a sippy cup ok now so try that as an alternative to a bottle.

We also find that he is far more likely to accept a bottle if he's hungry, it's mid morning and it's given by someone other than me. In the evenings he's hungry but too tired to put up with anything other than boob. And he also won't take a bottle if it's from me and he knows boob is an option.

Also, if he's getting worked up about being offered a bottle, sometimes it helps to give a couple of minutes on the boob then hand to his dad to finish the feed with a bottle. I know that's no help if you are out, but it might help as a strategy to familiarise the baby with the bottle again.

Some great ideas will try when she's willing to be more agreeable.

Will look into soppy cup, too.
