Infant feeding

XBF - do you give cows milk too?

Hi All

DD is 12.5 months and still bf.......... heaps LOL! Well, on demand if I'm with her otherwise when she wakes, late afternoon and then off to sleep after bath etc.

She eats very well as well and tbh I'm not sure that she's not actually feeding that much - plenty comfort sucking!

Was wondering if I should introduce cows milk as a drink or just stick with bf?

TIA

Entirely up to you. I bf dd until she was 2 but also introduced cows milk in cups when she turned a year with my intention to be that she drank from cups by day and had feeds at night. That didn't go to plan though and she enjoyed both cups of milk and bf's both day and night .

i started dd with doidy cups at 4 months or so - just water tho.

tbh, i've ditched the doidys as it was proving too time consuming whilst out and about. switched onto an enclosed straw type contraption and it works really well.

was thinking about doing similar with milk but am worried about her stopping bf! also, she eats soo much now am worried she'd just overfill herself with cows milk as well

so confused really!

Whats a doidy cup??

I think it very unlikely that she will give up bf for a cup of milk .

She's likely to drink far more milk through a straw than just an ordinary cup with no lid bit, as straw is comfort in itself.

As i say its up to you - if you'd rather not i don't see any reason why that'd be a problem.

it's a slanted lidless cup that's supposed to be good for avoiding bottles etc.

she does really well drinking from cups/glasses etc which is why i didn't mind switching her to a straw at this stage.

i think i'll try introducing cows milk as a drink and see what she makes of it and take it from there.

thanks for the advice.
