"Well, I tried not feeding her for a while but apparently they starve if you do that.... oh, you mean feeding her milk? Why yes, don't most children still have milk at this age? ... oh, you mean breastfeeding her milk? Yes, feeding her free milk produced by a human seemed a better idea all round than buying her milk produced by cow..."

How old is your BFing little one?

I really didn't want to stop feeding my last one (did so at 9 months) and really miss that feeling now. That and labour.

i am getting this from family too....
my stock resposne now is along the lines of they still need milk fairly sizeable part of their diet at this is
then the breast feeding bit comes up and I ask why a cows' milk would be better for him than human milk....
then they get a bit confused at that point...

I cannot understand why so many people are shocked at the idea of a small child/toddler/baby breastfeeding - yet see nothing at all unusual in human adults drinking cows milk. It is amazing how culturally conditioned we can be to see the former as somehow strange - and the latter as completetly normal.
And how many people ever comment "Oh, is s/he still having a bottle?" when s/he is old enough not to need to drink from a bottle?

My mums says exactly the same thing everytime I speak to her . DS is 28 months & Ive tried all the usual stuff, WHO ("buts thats just for the 3rd world" ), cows milk etc etc. Nothing seems to get through....so I simply answer "Of course!" & then chnage the subject

Mind you she has recently decided that it might be nice that DS will be home educated...whereas before she simply kept muttering "silly" & "nonsense" everytime it was metioned so you never know...maybe she will come round when DS is still feeding at 3 or 4
