What are your opinions ? I have just finished expressing for my friends baby I fed my daughter and her son both for 9 months and would love to continue to help other babies whom parents are unable to obtain milk from the nhs bank. I have undergone drug and alcohol tests and my milk has no problems I also carry no infections. I am a very opinionated woman but after help my best friend my opinion towards giving another child another woman's milk has changed.

Plz I'd love to hear your opinions, concerns or recommendations.

Thank you

I think that you would find a few people who would be interested, but also a lot of people who would be concerned about transfer of illnesses etc through bodily fluids.
Why not donate to your local nhs milk bank? It's probably the safest route to go down for screening and safety checks.

The way to help the most people is to donate to a milk bank. That way lots of babies will benefit including very poorly ones. Isn't that a better result than feeding one specific child?

Offer to donate milk on Human Milk 4 Human Babies - hm4hbuk have a Facebook page. They facilitate matches between potential donors and recipients in need. Just be prepared for lots of detailed questions about your medical history etc. before someone is willing to give your milk to their baby.

I think that you have to start donating to NHS banks before your baby turns six months. Try la leche league for advice.

Is it legal in the UK to be a wet nurseunless you do it for free? I'm almost certain its illegal to sell breast milk.

I do think there is a market for it though.

Personally I would only use BM for my babies that was from a regulated milk bank.
You did a lovely thing for your friend's baby but that is just my own opinion on it.

Well done X
