Has anyone got any experience if having a lip and tongue tie lasered here? I saw a lactation consultant on Monday and she diagnosed an upper lip tie and tongue tie. We are booked into have it lasered next week and was wondering what others experiences have been like?

I left the lip tie alone after being more impressed with my consultant dentist than the Huddersfield team. Lip ties are normal they aren't routinely associated with feeding issues though ones that are tight might be a problem. Ours is huge and through the gum but not at all tight, no feeding probs, no subsequent issues. I started doing random surveys and we nesrly all have a lip tie or Tt according to the diagnosis private snipping teams make.

We had our Tt done on the nhs, free and following the best evidence based research. Lip ties are known to cause some problems for some children - not all. My consultant bought much research and was happy to admit more could be done but I am uncomfortable with the over dominance of a few internet outlier experts and the ready referrals running between some ibclcs and expensive snippers.

very interesting error thank you. we have been diagnosed too and I was all set to jolly up to Huddersfield but I'm rethinking it on the advice of our dentist amongst others.

I might try to improve latch first of all.

If you are local you could go to one of the baby cafés - the staff there can id tts and are doing some snips or can refer you. We used to go to batley they are fab.

We had my DS's tt lasered at Cote Royd because the NHS appointment was 3 weeks away and my poor chomped nipples couldn't take it any longer (and his weight gain wasn't great).

The dentist offered to throw in the lip tie zap as well, but said it wasn't particularly bad in my DS's case so we left it alone.

I had the tt identified by a midwife, though, so I knew ds had one and it was causing a problem. Can you get a second opinion on the tt before you commit?

We got both done there last week. Still working on latch as he was 4 months so a lot to unlearn and relearn. DS couldn't flare top lip so no seal on breast leading to a lot of wind.
