It's not just that page either, the whole section seems to be full of old fashioned advice, and incorrect information. I hope no-one takes this information at face value, but I fear some people will.

I've had a quick look at the other pages and seen nothing too bad....what pressed your buttons, Brighton?

I have no idea why anyone would go to Tesco for information and advice on caring for a baby, but what do I know? :)

I don't see a problem on that page particularly.

The diet one says you need to avoid caffeine and alcohol and stick to a healthy diet to breastfeed. Oh fuck off! This is one of my most irritating breastfeeding myths. I DO like to eat a healthy diet (and I have a glass of wine if I want one thank you very much), but I have had friends give up breastfeeding so they can drink coffee, or insist on strictly following the pregnancy food guidelines while breastfeeding, and then give up because they feel everything is too restrictive.

I also know someone who didn't touch a drop of caffeine for over a year while breastfeeding, and it didn't matter how many times I said there wasn't any evidence this was a problem for more than a few babies, she said she wouldn't, and was very sniffy about me having a cup of tea!

Oh, mainly the weaning stuff Tiktok. The list of millions of items that are apparently essential, and no mention of baby led weaning. It's not so much wrong info just obviously trying to push purchasing around weaning.

Plus at least two mentions of giving formula fed babies water if constipated. I thought water was only necessary in extreme heat.

Plus the quotes about baby feeding are from someone who fed till 5 months and then mixed fed, someone who mixed fed from early on and a bottle feeder from the beginning. Just would be nice to see someone quoted who bfed to 1 yr, and up to weaning age exclusively. Are they that rare?

Haven't looked at those pages....yes, they sound a bit poor. Water is a good idea if ff babies are genuinely constipated, though. They obv don't need it otherwise.
