dd is 11 weeks and bfs really well. however, one boob gets really full and heavy while the other seems to stay the same. milk supply seems to be the same from each and I'm pretty sure that she "uses" both of them equally.the difference in size is actually really noticable if she hasnt fed for a few hours though!is this normal and any tips on how i could even them up a bit?have tried expressing but doesnt seem to help...

It could be a swapping thing (not so sure on swapping boob techniques as I was an expresser) but one of mine definately had more milk and got bigger, even though I expressed for the same amount of time exactly..

Maybe she is sucking longer and slower/harder and faster on one and getting more out? Who knows! I think it's one of the curses of the breastfeeding mum though lol...

Expressing will only encourage more milk and therefore escalate the prob btw - but it's great to have a stocked freezer

maybe someone knows a cure!

Hi, Sorry no solution, just support. One of mine got bigger aswell and there seems to have more milk. I have tried to even this out by feeding more from the other side and expressing, but nothing has helped. DS is now 6.5 months old and I dread the day when someone will notice... Just hope that eventually they will return to normal (or even better if they both go like the biggest one )

What you may not have noticed is that breasts are different sizes anyway, before pregnancy and breastfeeding. Most women find that they can express more from one side than the other - my left breast was much better. That is common in right handed women as it is the breast they are most comfortable feeding on, therefore use that side more. Don't worry about it - it is normal.

Mears - I'm right-handed but MUCH prefer feeding on the right side - more comfortable. Is that unusual?

I'm the same hunkermunker, therefor have much bigger right boob

It's my left one that produces most though - but that's possibly because I express from it more? I feed on the right overnight too - the left side is mahoosive in the morning and sometimes leaks on DS2 as he's feeding in the morning

Not necessarily hunker. Some literature suh=ggests that right handed women are able to position their babies correctly on the left breast more readily than on the right. I found that I was more comfortable feeding from the left side because i used my right hand for other things like eating, drinking, holding the phone. Maybe you are ambidextrous?

I deal cards and open bottles with my left hand

I sound like a fit mother, don't I?!

I find it far more comfortable to cradle a baby on my left arm and always carry them on my left hip (in a sling too) - it's just feeding.
