When my DD was this age we had an identical situation and we found that Colief was a miracle cure for her pain. Bit tricky because you have to express a little milk and feed it to her before the relevant breastfeed/s (i.e. the ones before the pain), but it was worth all the extra sleep when it worked (and the £10 cost per bottle)

I doubt your baby is constipated, mammaemma - but she does sound in distress/uncomfortable. I wonder if you have a bit of over-supply? read the threads on this for more information - we've discussed it quite a lot recently.

thanks tik tok, i spent last night reading a lot of the threads u r on as your advice is invaluable so thank u!

could the fact i am expressing be contributing to over supply? i try to stock pile an extra bottle a day?

Yes, expressing an extra bottles-worth will definitely contribute to this...you are disturbing the body's natural process of working-with-the-baby's-needs. Try stopping expressing and see if it makes a difference. Give it a few days to be sure if it helps.

Why are you stockpiling????!

i have been stockpiling this week for an outing on friday. will stop now, feel really guilty! if you are going to express is there any guidance on when and how for minimum disruption?
