Domperidone dosage

Been given a prescription for Domperdone to try and boost milk supply. But my dose is 30mg for 10 days, then 20mg for 10 and then 10mg for the last 10 days. But everything I can find on the internet, for example Dr Jack Newman suggests the dose should be much higher.

What should I do?

I can't remember what's took but I the it was 20mg 3 times a day at the beginning then i reduced it gradually untill I didn't need it.

It worked absolute wonders with me :) good luck.

I wonder if I should buy some to make up the dosage to something higher. It's so bloody expensive though.

It is expensive :( try with the dose you've been given and see how you go x

moat of the way through the 30mg a day and no improvement. How long should it take to work?

Breastfeeding network talks about 30mg but in the US they commonly take more. I've been on it for 6 weeks but no great effect (nb I have malabsorption though). Considering upping dosage. Might be worth trying 30 for a while first. If it's enough to make the difference then that's all to the good. Reassess in a few weeks.

I presume you're approaching it on all fronts: checked the latch, checked the baby, babymoon etc?

It worked for me - but it wasn't magic - it was a boost, which we could then capitalise on. I was also taking fenugreek.

Never found a cheap source of Domperidone. It is much cheaper in the states, but no reputable pharmacist will export without prescription.

Yeah, been trying everything double pumping like 8 times a day and had a baby moon on Saturday (baby seemed to have taken it as an opportunity to remeber how much she loves sleeping on the boob) Also, feeding in the bath isn't half a balancing act.

We had her latch checked when she was 3weeks (now 7), and they said it was okay, but now i'm wondering if she might be tongue tied and noones noticed. I started another thread about it, for someone who only just registered with mumsnet after months of lurking i've gon ea bit thread crazy..

How much fenugreek did you take?

I forget now - I followed Jack Newman I think.... actually I began with a breasfeeding supplement called 'More Milk Plus' - but it was fairly expensive - whereas fenugreek is cheap as chips.

How do you measure improvement? Are you ex-bf, or is it in terms of top ups needed?

That's a very good point, I have no idea hwo tojusge what's working. I'm giving her top ups, as much of i can they're EBM but sometimes they're forumula. I've been writing down how much she gets, but the problem is she'll never act full- I coul dliterally give her a 5oz bottle and she'd take it- she'd spit up afterwards (or more open her mouth and let the extra flow out) but I have no idea how much too much it would be.

Hoping maybe i'll see an increase in pumping output, I know thats a rubbish measure, but at least it's something concrete.
