Learn to feed lying down. An absolute God-send when recovering from CS!

Lots of skin to skin. Feed in side lying position, ask midwife to pull up side rails for safety. I found this position helped especially after section . Catheter will stay in for at least 24 hours takes pressure off wound site and at least you don't have to go to loo. Get help with latch and apply lots of multimam balm and compresses to nipples.good luck

Ask to have the catheter out ASAP and nag them to get rid of venflons (the things in your hand/s the drips go into) at their earliest convenience. All the attachments were such an ARSE when I was learning to BF DS and I think they would have stayed in longer had I not stayed on at them to get them out.

If you have a c-section it doesn't squeeze the mucus out of the tummy like vaginal birth does, so baby might not feed well due to having a full tummy. It will get puked out over the next couple of days.
With both my sections baby latched on well first time, but then struggled a bit for the next couple of days, if this happens, don't let baby go more than 3-4 hours without a feed and ask a midwife to show you how to express into a syringe and feed them this.
Ask for as much help as possible while you're in hospital and make sure you get the latch right.
