Re-offering ebm if baby doesn't drink much?

HI,

I've had a look on Kellymom but just wanted to check what the consensus was as I was a bit unsure.

DH (SAHD) has asked if it is ok to put EBM back in the fridge and offer it again later on.

I'm not long back at work so we are still trying to work out when he might want ebm - it's a bit trial and error!

The milk being offered will normally have been expressed the day before and the baby in question is 7mo.

Thanks in advance.

I was told recently that it should be thrown away after an hour, as the baby could have transferred bacteria into the bottle as they suck.
The way to ensure the least waste (until you know how much milk baby is likely to drink) is to just put an ounce or two at a time into the bottle. That way, you can add more if it's needed, but only stand to waste a small amount.
HTH!

thanks. :) i did do smaller amounts for the first day back, but i have a limited amount and frankly want to wash as few as possible! Grin

i was thinking I'd read on here that bm is ok for longer as it naturally has antibacterial properties?
